HOPE SULLIVAN

Tutoring at Hope Sullivan in a one-on-one style.  This occurs during the fall through spring terms on Wednesdays at 9:00 a.m.

ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE

ESL is teaching English as a second language to families whose first language is anything but English.  No special skills are needed, just a commitment to these families needing help with everyday language skills or homework help for the children.  Classes are at St. Timothy's on Sundays at 4:00 p.m. during the school year.

THOSE IN NEED

Food and Toiletry Collections are a gathered every week to disperse to 1) Desoto Sunrise Homes, a home for abused or at-risk children; 2) The Samaritans, an organization that supplies a food pantry for all of the Southaven area plus; 3) The Flannagan Center Aids Program, which distributes high nuitrition drinks such as Ensure and Boost to victims of HIV/AIDS; 4) House of Grace, a home for abused spouses and children.

SPANISH LESSONS

Spanish Lessons are given for free to those in the community who find a need to speak basic Spanish in order to help those they serve.  These lessons are held once a week during the school term and anyone can join to help the certified teacher prepare the class or teach.

HELPING GROUPS

Helping Groups are formed as we see the opportunity to assist other groups with feeding the homeless, building new homes, repairing & painting homes, visiting the elderly, etc.  We gather a group that works as a unit to put eager hands to work where it is needed.

CAMP CARITAS

Camp Caritas  is an Episcopal Diocese of Mississippi opportunity for children, whose parent(s) are incarcerated, to experience a nurturing camp and cultivate meaningful relationships and make positive choices.  Also involved are Catholic Charities, Lutheran Episcopal Services, United Methodist Conference and Big Brother, Big Sister.  This camping experience is every summer at Gray Center in Canton, Mississippi.
